During the reign of Kodagu raja, there was a war against Karnembavu, a nayak of Thavi /naad, Manicha Beera single handedly killed hundreds of soldiers’ of Karnembavu with his odikathi. But fate had an unfortunate end for his life as he was killed by deceit and conspiracy in the war field.

And that’s how the story of warriors in the Bottolanda okka started.

Evidence of Maanicha are documented in various sources and one among the recent publication “Kodaginodeyaru KodavaruPage no 50. Manicha’s story is also narrated in kodava folk song as a man with supreme power and war field expertise, being the head of war force. One day when Manicha was coming to meet his family, at the same time , a group of Karnembavu soldiers were moving towards Bhagamandala. The news was intimated by his king with a note. On the third day Manicha left home, promising to return. On the way he stopped near Kuyyamudi river to wash his hands for his meal which had been packed by his sister in-law. but a Sixth sense warned him about the quality of the food, so he threw the food to the river. He reached Bhagamandala and found the soldiers there, with Odikathi as his only weapon, he fearlessly and mercilessly attacked them. Unable to face the ferocity of his attack, a few cowardly soldiers withdrew from the scene. Hiding in the Annachira paddy field, they  ambushed him, cut his body in the fields. On receiving this ghastly news, the family and villagers and reached the spot and cremated him near Banneymottey.
